An 8 man open weight tournament with Hawaii's hungriest and top competitors looking to make a name for themselves. Finalists will be determined that night. Fights consist of one 5min rd with a possible 1min overtime if needed. Contestants are, Kolo Koka; Michael Brightmon; Derek Thornton; Casey Tavares; Josh Ferreira; Kimo Lani; Chris Bernard; David Padilla

Thought that was a bit interesting, though kinda ridiculous with the only one 5 min round.

Ah X-1...

I was at the first one, where Dan Sevren worked a match with Shannon Ritch in the main event. For "budget MMA" in Hawaii, it was a great show where like, no one showed up, and you could just stretch out and hear what the fighters' corners were yelling at them most of the time. I like that kind of atmosphere sometimes...

Has any of that changed since I've been gone?

It has more white people yelling "WOOP WOOP, COMPTON IN THE HOUSE! FUCK YOU HAWAIIANS! COMPTON 4 LYFE!" then fat hawaiians getting pissed, and trying to start fights.

Although, if you mean were the fights any good, then they were good in the sense that they were so horrible, they were good.

Actually, I heard about that, vaguely, but I don't know the details. Their fight ended in a draw, but how did that come about? Something weird and crazy must have happened if it incited a riot between two corners, especially since they're (supposed to be) professionals.

Moreno blatantly committed a foul, as the ref placed his hands on both fighters, seperating them and trying to bring them into the ring. Oh, come on now. I wasn't making fun. I was simply amused to hear your voice in real life after hearing you call into Breen's show all the time.

And funny story, he started talking to me. He was looking for some assurance that I wouldn't slam him in my article. And when he said I wrote for Sherdog, the other ref came over and started talking and laughing too. One of those refs emailed me after I wrote the article for the last X-1 show because I said something about his reffing.

And I like how you say I was holding up the fights. As if the riot in the ring and the circus-like atmosphere in general had nothing to do with it.

Just keep in mind that it was well passed too fucking late by the time the event got over and I was doing interviews more or less half asleep. Thank fuck for Rockstar energy drinks.
