dvd ripping
do I need a dvd burner to do this? if not, which programs have you used that haven't given you any problems?

you recommend an external? I don't have much of a choice though. the dell I have can't be modified at home. I have to send it back to the company for them to add and remove....I got a 4800c or something like that. a very skinny desktop

yeah get a simple external bishop they work fine.

talk to phatrick he has some good names of ripping programs you can find for free.

That's gay as fuck that Dell won't let you work on your own machine.

I don't see any reason that an external won't do you just fine. I'll get an internal one, because Dell doesn't own my soul, but if I was in your situation I'd get an external drive.
