it was pretty much the owners' fault. the players wanted to play, but they agreed that a short season would suck since there would still be a stanley cup championship. i don't think the winning team would have an honorable championship since everyone only played half a season.

the fans got left in the dust. that's such crap though, having espn cancel their contract.

thats why the players were willing to play at a 25% paycutt. 25% off every player in the league is alot of cash. but that wasnt good enough either.

well if they weren't paying superstar salaries to a few select players, they wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place. like they really could afford it... the owners just wanted their teams to win by bringing in players with outrageous salaries.

those high rolling salaries only work in sports like basketball and football, where there are actually viewers. i love hockey, but i stopped watching it after the penguins traded Jagr away.

Wonderful!. This situation is great. We finally get to see all of Sweden's star players (as well as many international stars) play in the Swedish hockey league. I hope we get another season here.
