BK's 2010 NFL Draft Thread - Make Your Picks
Here's the BK's draft thread which we can discuss the upcoming draft and even create mini-mock's for our specific teams. This thread will be merged back into the 2010-2011 NFL thread shortly after the draft has been completed and all of our whining is finished.

Seattle Seahawks have 2 of the top 14 picks in this years draft and all I'm hearing on ESPN Seattle is that the consesus is to go for a left tackle. We still don't know if Walter Jones is coming back as he has yet to announce his retirement and it'll be great to reach for the future right now. But if Eric Berry, the best (F)S in this years draft is there at #6, they should pull the trigger on him. What's better? The #2 or #3 tackle or the #1 player at his position? When you can get a player like Ciron Black from LSU much later in the draft, around the 4th or 5th round, why get a player like Trent Williams or Bryan Bulaga now? If Okung is there, then yes, get him. This is a very deep draft for tackles and it's being projected that 8-10 tackles will go in the first round.
My Pick: Eric Barry (if available) Options: Trent Williams, Bryan Bulaga This now brings me to the second pick at #14. C.J. Spiller is the rumored pick here but with Kearney's recent retirement and not getting Marshall, who would've costed the team far too much for the future, I think a DE is the right pick. If Derrick Morgan is there, and the only way this is happening is if the Jags take Tebow or Clausen, it's a no-brainer steal of a pick. If Morgan isn't, then I think they should go with Bryant if he slips past Denver. Seattle missed out on Crabtree last year, which wasn't too much of a shocker as the best player overall in the draft fell to them. This year, they have to get their #1 receiver as Housh is a #2 possession receiver. I would only go for Spiller if neither of the 2 are off the board, but Taylor Mays isn't too much of a stretch either if they don't get Berry at #6. This year is very rich and deep at RB and they can get a solid one at #60. Maybe a player like Blount will be around at this time. My Pick: Derrick Morgan or Dez Bryant (if either are available) Options: C.J. Spiller, Taylor Mays

I am so fucking amped, as usual your friendly Florida Gators are getting hated on. I LOL at people saying Spikes cant play in the NFL cuz he cant workout good, watch some fucking tape, dude started in the SEC for 3 years on one of the best defenses of all time, gimmie a break. If he drops to the 3rd someones getting a steal in the middle.
Tebow to Minnesota in the 1st ![]()

If Seattle needed a ILB, I would be happy with a guy like Spikes or Donald Butler. It's just too bad they are deep with both Tatupu and Hawthorne.
If Seattle doesn't get a DE at the 14th pick, I hope Carlos Dunlap falls to the 60th pick.

I wouldnt doubt it, whoever gets him is either gonna get a all time bust if he goes high or a steal if he drops late.

Seattle has far too many needs and they don't have enough picks. Losing out on Marshall stings a little, I'm not going to lie, but he would've costed far too much. This draft is too deep to give up picks, especially since there is no third round pick this year.
I just hope they do whatever they can to trade down from the #14 pick if Derrick Morgan isn't there. Get a late first and a third.

I dont see Taylor Mays as a need at 14, even with Pete Carroll. If Spiller isnt there he will snake McKnight in the later rounds and a OL with 14

I think if either Okung or Williams is there, the 6th pick will be on Walter Jones' replacement. I'm not liking Spiller at #14. I keep hearing all of the Chris Johnson similarities, but this draft has too many RB's who can be picked up later on. Gotta plug in the hole that Kearney left behind. I'm really sold on Ciron Black and hoping Seattle gets him in the 4th or 5th.
I'm just a little worried Carroll will bring in a majority of USC players in this draft. Yes, you recruited these guys, but there are players on the board who are vastly superior to your players. There are going to be so many later round steals and I think this crop will produce a good number for the Pro Bowl.

Kansas City has the 5th overall as well as two picks in the 2nd round. They could address a number of needs with their first pick and still take a very good player in the 2nd by drafting BPA. Throughout the past few months the Kiper's of the world were in a consensus thinking the Chiefs would take a LT, despite the fact that Brandon Albert is already locked in the position (imo) and wouldn't make a very good RT.
I don't think they should go LT, but its always a possibility seeing as how Scott Pioli drafted a non-impact 5 tech DE last year 3rd overall. Even if Tyson Jackson turns out to be a decent or even great 3-4 DE, was it worth passing on Sanchez? I say no. Which leads me to: My pick - Jimmy Clausen QB Other option - Eric Berry S With the hire of Weis as O Coordinator this is a no-brainer. The Offense will be theoretically the same. He has improved every year under Weis running a pro-style offense. In my mind that means he's more NFL ready than the other spread QB's in the draft. The Chiefs have never successfully drafted a franchise QB. Every successful Chiefs QB was a FA or trade. I don't think Matt Cassel can be a Super Bowl winning QB. He could be good with a great O-line, but not good enough to carry them in this era of superstar QB's. At worst you have insurance and competition to push Cassel to succeed and I would be dead wrong. And I'm OK with that. The safe pick is Berry. He is the best D prospect available (Suh a close second) and would be a welcome addition to our secondary.

The USC gem that will go late or UDFA is Stafon Johnson.

I can see KC trading down and getting Claussen then. Why waste the #5 pick on him when you can get more and him? I'd give the pick to Oakland at #8 and let them fuck up their destiny like they did last year.

I don't think Clausen makes it past the Browns (or Rams if they swap picks like rumoured).

there's always Tebow
![]() Rams should trade the #1 pick to Pittsburgh. Give Roethlisberger his comeupance. I can't believe Dorsey and Jackson combined for only 1 sack last year.

3-4 D Linemen, even when they are really good, aren't going to make huge splashes on the stat-sheet.

I hope KC takes Bulaga. Seattle is in love with him and I'd rather have Trent Williams. But then I would want the Ed Reed-esque playmaker like Eric Berry.

The biggest question I have been working on is what Detroit will do and whether they will do the right thing or not. They need a tackle to protect their golden boy in Stafford. All of the mock's have either Suh or McCoy going to Detroit. I don't see it as a fetch if Detroit did the right thing and drafted Okung at #2. It would also help the Redskins a bit with the rumors of Haynesworth being up for trade in the near future.
If this scenario plays out, how far do you think either Suh or McCoy could or would fall? This is if the Redskins don't take the player who slips

Please god let it be Berry. Not that Bulaga is bad but that would essentially doom our starting LT to become a Guard.

This offseason seems to be taking forever. NBA playoffs and the World Cup will help, but ughhh I hate not having something that I can sink a lot of time, money, and faith in on a Sunday.

I forgot that the Williamsesesseserest's were at the Hawks mini-camp. Reggie and Mike. Mike was a bust in Detroit, but who wasn't at the time? Reggie has been away from the game for over a year due to the drug charges. Seattle has a small WR core and with these 2, it'd give them a potential deep ball threat. It'll also open up Butler to fill in the slot position.
TN, you're right, this is taking forever. The season goes by far too fast and there's just too much time inbetween the offseason and preseason. The draft should be 27 rounds and 26 days, just to fill the void

it is worth the wait, but NBA isn't what it use to be. The tournament came and went so fast as well, even if I am a Duke fan.
I requested Thursday off and hope I have the early shift on friday to watch the 2nd round. 3rd, I can care less as Seattle doesn't have a pick. This is definately a draft I am very anxious about. So many teams will fill their needs and of course, there will be trades, oh yes, there will be trades

![]() lets see here.... St Louis Rams; They need pretty much everything save for RB. Most pressing need is at QB. No 1 pick overall plus top picks i think in all rounds following. Im a bit concerned they have already said they wont be able to sign Sam Bradford to a contract before the draft, which makes me think trade talks are afoot. Basically talented bodies are needed to fill the many holes of this club. doesnt matter how they get them to me

the Browns want Bradford but Holmgren stated that he's not willing to put in for a blockbuster trade much like Coach Ditka did to get Ricky Williams....11 draft picks! Holmgren isn't sold on Clausen, but not sold on Bradford either. If this happens, St. Louis will get a busload of picks, including the #7 pick, where Clausen should be available.

Detroit traded Ernie Sims to Philly in exchange for Denver's TE Scheffler, and Denver gets Philly's 5th rounder. Watch the Eagles end up with Taylor Mays and Ernie Sims for the 24th overall and a 5th. RAAAAPE
