Ninja to Bushido?

I heard there are some talks about Ninja Rua going down to 185 to join Bushido. This will let Silva and Shogun to represent the middle weights while Ninja goes to help Acacio with the welters.

- What you think about this move?
- Could Ninja become a force to be reckoned as Pride welter? Probably get the belt later?
- How do you see him pair next to other Bushido welters like Baroni, Bustamante, Henderson, Chonan, Minowa, Gono or Misaki?

i see it as he doesnt have many options?

SHit no one wants to be a third string quarterback and he looked dismal @ 205+ so 185 is his last option or go elsewhere.

i thought he already had moved to 183 for the starting over show, till i got some reports on the weigh-ins. i'm highly anticipating this. it's the only weight that his fight with Filho is poignant to me at. it's a good move and i expect big things. his power seemed ineffectual at 205 amongst the top tier, but i don't think this will be the case in Pride's welterweight class. it's only a matter of time before he's top 5 or 3 of the division if not at the very peak.

If he's serious about making the drop then I say go for it. Too bad he didn't do it earlier. He might have very well been a finalist for the GP belt on NYE. I think he could hang with and probably beat just about everybody in the div. Maybe we'd be seeing Hendo/Ninja 2 instead of Hendo/Busta 2. But anyhow, fuck yeah. Go for it.

Ninja's never been a powerful puncher, moving down won't change that. He's more about breaking his opponent down with (hilarious looking - dancing knees anyone?) strikes and his superior conditioning.

Ah well him moving down can never be a bad thing and I still think Gono got hosed in their fight so I'd like to see a rematch. It's a shame Gono and the rest of the fighters that made their name in Pancrase haven't heard of the term "weight cutting".

Yeah, he has no place at PIRDE-205 at the moment. Let's just hope that his change-of-weightclass will be a tad better orchestrated then the last time.

Baroni's stand up is easier on the eyes, so I don't particularly like the idea. I'm thinking more along the lines of him stunning Ninja with his straight punches and giving him some of his own medicine (the aforementioned stomps of death).

Considering the only other real move he's made in his career other than training at Chute Boxe was to move up to heavyweight...that doesn't really say a lot.

Well, from Ninja's last fight it certainly appears like he's got his fire back. Moving down to WW is definately the smart choice because he does tend to always look puffy at 205. He would be very strong and much faster at WW and would wreck shit up. I always considered him better at submissions than striking, but actually he seems to do both equally well. Combine that with the fact he never stops fighting, and he's a bad day for anyone. I still don't know if he would be at Hendo and Busta's level, but it's likely. Experience counts for so much in MMA after all.
