What is Tin disulfide?

Tin disulfide can be described as an inorganic compound with a chemical formula of SnS2. It is a yellow hexagonal flake with its CdI2 crystal shape. It is hardly soluble in water, however it is water-soluble in aqua regia. It is also soluble in hot alkaline solution. It's can be found in sodium sulfide Solution, which is often used as gold paint.

Tin disulfide is soluble in aqua regia and hot acid solution. It can undergo coordination reactions with concentrated hydrochloric acid, however it is insoluble in dilute hydrochloric acids and insoluble when mixed with water and the acid nitric. It can also react with ammonium sulfide to dissolve.

Electrochemical properties of multi-walled carbon nitrotubes enclosed to tin dioxide as the negative electrodes of lithium-ion battery

Direct current arc plasma method was used to prepare multi-walled carbon-carbon nanotube-confined metal Nanostructures (Sn@MWCNT) as precursors in a methane environment, and later SnS_2@MWCNT was obtained by the sulfurization reaction. Study on electrochemical performance of tin disulfide/single-walled carbon nanotube composite material used as anode material for lithium-ion battery

A novel composite material made of SnS2 together with the single-walled carbon-nanotube (SWCNTs) has been prepared using simple solvothermal methods. It has good electrochemical properties when applied to the negative electrode material of lithium Ion batteries. At a very high current density at 1 A/g, and after 100 cycles, it still maintains a reversible specific capacity of 515 amps/g. In order to compare, we applied the same method to synthesize one SnS2 material and conducted Electrochemical testing on it. The results show that even though the initial capability of SnS2 material is large, the performance of its cycles is weak, and it diminishes quickly after less than 20 cycles. The better capacity of this particular composite for batteries that use lithium is believed to be due to its synergy with the two constituents of SnS2 along with SWCNTs.
